Telepathic Burning

In this magic trick,  your assistant burns your finger without ever touching it or using any direct heat, then heals it to the audiences’ amazement!

Supplies:

• Light-colored sheet of construction paper
• Pen
• Matches
• A house key (it must have a round hole at the top;  another hole the same size in another small object will also work.

procedure:

• Place the construction paper in front of your audience.  Have someone trace your hand on the paper.
• Have someone else strike a match, blow it out, and press the match onto the outline of your thumb.
• Hidden from view, (such as in your pocket or behind your back,) press the round hole of the key firmly onto your thumb.  (The audience must not know you have the key.)
• After they hold the match to the paper for ten seconds, have them dispose of the match.
• Reveal your thumb, which will now be “blistered” with a burn.
• Choose the person from your audience that looks the most surprised, and tell them that they are going to heal your thumb for you.
• Place your thumb into the palm of his hand.  Rub your thumb firmly back and forth firmly in his palm.  Continue doing this for up to fifteen seconds.  (Don’t make it obvious that you are counting.)
• Reveal your thumb again, this time completely healed!

Remember, as with any magic trick, practice this trick thoroughly before showing it to an actual audience.
